Saturday, October 24, 2009 Rainy Day Actions at Homes of Novartis Executive and Fortress Executive WAR commemorates National Primate Liberation Week with Another Day of Protest Against Huntingdon Life Sciences Demo #1: Dorothy Watson, General Counsel, Novartis During a very windy and rainy day, activists with Win Animal Rights hit the streets to continue its unceasing pressure on HLS customer Novartis. Activists paid a visit to Dorothy Watson to again remind her that torturing animals to death is depraved and unjustifiable. "Vivisection is a lie! How many animals have to die?!" at the home of Dorothy Watson, General Counsel for Novartis. The images displayed on the posters horrified pedestrians and neighbors, many of whom had nothing but kind words for the protesters. In fact, numerous people commended the demonstrators' resolve, braving the elements to stand up against injustice. The neighborhood is very animal-friendly, and even though it was raining very heavily, several of Watson's neighbors stopped to talk and find out what was going on - and why their neighbor was involved with a company as heinous as Huntingdon Life Sciences. With Novartis' blood money, Huntingdon Life Sciences pays their bills and stays open. With the knowledge that an animal dies every 3 minutes inside that hellhole, activists raised their voices in outrage of Novartis' enabling of the puppy killing monsters. Recently, Daniel Vasella, the chairman and CEO of Novartis, has stated again that his company doesn't do business with HLS any longer, yet the campaign still has yet to have a signed statement sent that denounces HLS, states that Novartis won't work with HLS in the future, and supporting documents. It's very simple: Cut your ties to HLS, promise not to work with them in the future, and support, with proof, that you don't work with them any longer. Then activists will happily focus their attention elsewhere. Rain or shine, protesters will be out and about ready to call the Novartis executives the puppy killing cowards they are. After getting completely drenched, and shouting out their message for everyone within 2 blocks to hear, activists left with a promise: "We'll be back! We'll be back! We'll be back!" Demo #2: Randal Nardone - Chief Operating Officer & Director - Fortress Activists then traveled to the nearby luxury hi-rise building where Randal Nardone of Fortress Investment Group makes his residence. Graphic posters showing the bloody mutilated remains of beagle puppies were held high for as long as they could be. By then, the rain was pouring down and the strong winds whipping along the Hudson River made it impossible to continue. Nardone’s building has its main entrance on a dead end street with almost no pedestrian or vehicular traffic. In consideration of the fact that no one was out on the street and the protest could not really be seen by anyone, coupled with the horrible weather, this demos was cut short. Since the logistics at this location make it very difficult to protest Randal Nardone, even in the best weather conditions, activists are asking for your help. Please consider writing him: Randal Nardone Please remember to be polite when asking Mr. Nardone to use his influence as a Director of Fortress, to cut their ties to Huntingdon Life Sciences/Life Sciences Research Inc.
