FridayFriday, October 14, 2005 WAR Launches Operation: Slip Slide In the face of torrential rain, activists from Win Animal Rights (WAR) held their ground and protested at the New York City office of American Century Investors, Inc. We attempted to deliver a packet of information, including a DVD copy of "The Truth" which documents the cruelty and abuse that has taken place at Huntingdon Life Sciences, but we got no further than the lobby security station. A phone call to the American Security office on the 23 rd floor yielded no information at all. We asked that someone come down to pick up the info kit and we were told that if it was picked it would likely be thrown in the garbage. Obviously, American Century employees reflect the corporate philosophy of "profit at any cost, no matter how much suffering it causes". We promised to make sure that the message was delivered one was or another. We have our ways of making our point. Activists stood in pouring rain with a banner and graphic posters and chanted loudly. Companies that invest in HLS must take ownership of what HLS does every day. The blood of 500 animals a day is on the hands of American Century. Our second stop was the prestigious Fifth Avenue address of Dalton, Greiner, Hartman, Maher and Company. The rain pouring down didn't dampen the enthusiasm or the sound levels of the activists that gathered in front of their posh office building. Halfway through the demo, the NYPD arrived to tell us that we could not protest in front of Dalton, Greiner building. This makes us wonder if anyone at NYPD knows what the laws are, as we have every right to be exactly where we were. Needless to say, we did not give an inch and continued our protest. Flyers naming Dalton, Greiner as "Investors in Puppy Killing" were distributed freely. We vowed to keep coming back until Dalton, Greiner dumps their LSRI stock. Protests in heavy rain or other severe weather conditions just make us angrier and prove our resolve and determination to Stop Huntingdon Animal Cruelty! |
