Novartis Nightmare in New York City

On Monday evening, July 6, 2009, Win Animal Rights joined other compassionate individuals around the world for SHAC's Novartis Nightmare, the global day of action against Huntingdon Life Sciences customer Novartis.

Protest: Robert Pelzer - President & CEO - Novartis Pharmaceuticals - Customer of Huntingdon Life Sciences

Activists visited the home of Robert Pelzer, Novartis President and CEO, ready to tell his neighbors just how he was able to pay for his new multi-million dollar apartment. Unfortunately for Pelzer, protesters were greeted and welcomed by numerous animal lovers in the area, none of which were pleased to learn that their neighbor’s company, Novartis, contracts with puppy killers. Even the scary “nightmare masks” did not deter neighbors who were curious and interested in why protesters were in front of their building.

One resident gladly reached for a flier and informed activists that he would be happy to speak to Mr. Pelzer about HLS. Another woman, stunned by the gruesome posters, took up one herself and joined in on the demonstration. In only a short while, activists had distributed hundreds of fliers and made it a point to return with even more literature. Another of Pelzer’s neighbors stopped to chat and was so compelled by the graphic images that she picked up a poster and joined the demonstration for the last half hour.

Activists are beginning to notice a trend here; it seems that people don't like animal abusers. Since you're still relatively new to your residence, Mr. Pelzer, you might want to rethink your relationship with HLS. You're certainly not going to win over friends with such a poor choice in business partners. “Your company, Mr. Pelzer, Your Fault”…..”Your contracts, Mr. Pelzer, Your Fault”.

With the economy still in a slow downslide and with drug companies like Novartis facing shrinking pipelines, harder economic times and more government regulation, you would think that Novartis would want to take a critical look at their relationship with a sleazy company like Huntingdon Life Sciences.
