Staples Weekend of Action Concludes at HLS CEO Baker & Staples

Demo #1: Andrew Baker, Chief Puppy Killer – Huntingdon Life Sciences

Staples Weekend of Action presented a perfect opportunity to return to the home of Huntingdon Life Sciences unscrupulous CEO Andrew Baker. Baker lives close to one of the most popular Staples retail outlets in New York City! How convenient!!!

Activists unfurled their largest banner, the one that proclaims “Andrew Baker Puppy Killer” for all of Baker’s neighbors to see. Amazingly, Baker continues to spread the rumor that he does not live at 279 Central Park West. This despite the fact that it is his “official/legal” address, that he receives mail and has meetings with the NYPD in his apartment and that protesters have spoken to his former regular limousine driver after he was dropped off there one night.

Baker has been seen coming and going from his fancy multi million dollar apartment overlooking New York City’s Central Park. Still he tells his neighbors that he doesn’t live there. The big question is: If he doesn’t live in that building why does he seek restraining orders to keep peaceful protestors away from his building? A follow up question: Why would the courts issue an order of protection for Andrew Baker at that address if he doesn’t live there?

A lively and spirited protest was held and only temporarily suspended when the skies opened up with heavy rain. Activists moved across the street and took refuge under the scaffolding of the building next door to Baker and were happily surrounded by other stranded neighbors that were interested in finding out more about the campaign. So, even the storm didn’t dampen their ability to deliver their message of compassion and to educate Baker’s next door neighbors about the 500 animals killed by Huntingdon Life Sciences every day.

Demo #2: Staples @ 2248 Broadway

The final Staples protest of the weekend was held just blocks away from Baker’s luxury apartment at the very popular Staples outlet on Broadway and W. 81st Street. New Staples posters were unveiled detailing the connection between Huntingdon Life Sciences and their major office supplier, Staples.

Many times during the protest Staples customers approached the demonstrators to talk about the connection between Staples and the puppy killers at HLS. Each time they vowed to stop shopping at Staples immediately. One very concerned woman entered the store to speak to them. She came out of Staples, with a look of abject disappointment on her face, as she told activists that Staples staff were callously making fun of the activists on their doorstep. This did not surprise activists, as they are used to Staples employees showing their asses and their cold hearts simultaneously.

The ex-Staples customer then said that Staples employees claimed to not know why protesters were even there. Of course, letters, phone calls and even one-on-one conversations with branch management have taken place. They know full well why activists are in front of their store. When Staples employees lie boldly to customers they only make Staples look really, really bad. If they say they do not know the point of the protests, after these many weeks of protests, either they are LIARS or DUMB as rocks. It might be a combination of both.

As always, at this location, the public is highly receptive to the message of compassion for animals and many, after talking to demonstrators at length, leave understanding the blood money connection between Staples and Huntingdon Life Sciences. HLS must be a very big customer for Staples to be suffering such a public relations nightmare on their behalf.

Activists chanted in unison…..”We will NEVER back down, until they STOP THE KILLING”.
