Monday, May 26, 2008 New York Launch of Global Week of Action Against Novartis Demo #1: Novartis Investor Services Office – 608 Fifth Avenue, NYC Activists gathered at the Fifth Avenue address of the Investor Services Office of Novartis Corporation. Banners conveniently attached to nearby street poles, allowed activist’s free hands to hold signs and to distribute a massive amount of literature to passersby on busy Fifth Avenue. Many were shocked to learn that a company like Novartis, which has a vested interest in good public relations, would consort with a company that condones punching beagle puppies in the face and killing 500 animals every day as routine business. After much study and research, activists hit Fifth Avenue armed with the truth about Novartis. Truth that they were only too happy to pass along to the inquiring public. Many asked activists what products carry the Novartis trademark. Again, activists were anxious to pass this information along. Many promised to stop using Novartis products until they stop enabling the animal abusers at Huntingdon Life Sciences. This marks the beginning of a global week of action focused on Novartis. Activists were empowered knowing that similar demonstrations were taking place at Novartis locations around the world. “We’ll be back, Novartis”….promised the activists. A promise that Novartis already knows all too well to be true. Win Animal Rights has focused their efforts on Novartis since World Laboratory Animal Liberation Week in April. Demo #2: Peter Laventhol - Owner Spark Management - Investor in LSR/HLS Although the bulk of the afternoon was dedicated to the launch of the Novartis Global Week, activists finding themselves at this location knew that they could not leave without paying a friendly visit to their favorite New York City Capital Markets Investor, Peter Laventhol. Despite numerous attempts to speak to Peter, he has never responded to requests for phone contact or a meeting. Consequently, the assumption is made that he knows about the disgusting behavior at Huntingdon Life Sciences and he just doesn’t care. The balmy afternoon saw many of Peter’s neighbors at home with their windows open. The loud voices of activists raised in chant and shaming Peter Laventhol could not be ignored. Neither could the large banner activists held naming and shaming “PETER LAVENTHOL MURDERER”. One couple made a special effort to come down to the street to talk to activists and to request a supply of literature for distribution throughout Peter Laventhol’s building. Peter may have a weekend retreat in the country; but many of his neighbors were home on Monday and very interested in what activists had to say. Once again, Peter’s neighbors are extremely supportive and the many visitors to MoMA (Museum of Modern Art) provided activists with an open and inviting audience. Some even joined in with the chanting. Many shook their heads in disbelief that Peter Laventhol would hold such foul shares of stock as those of LSRI. The popular belief among his neighbors is that some people will betray their own ethics and integrity for greed and fortune…..all agreed that they were surprised to hear that Peter was such a man as they say he loves animals. Apparently he loves money more. Activists left, at the end of the afternoon, with a strong and loud chorus of: “We will never back down until they stop the killing”. Do the right thing Peter Laventhol. Dump your shares of LSR now! |
