Saturday, May 3, 2008 Demo #1: Escada – Fifth Avenue, NYC Just when the folks at Escada were beginning to breathe easy thinking that the WAR protests were done for the season, guess what? They are NOT! WAR activists are planning to continue the protests against Escada until the beleaguered chain does the right thing and goes “fur free”. Voices were raised strong and loud, the sound echoing up and down posh Fifth Avenue, the location of Escada’s flagship store. The more pleasant weather of spring and summer will allow activists to return to Escada more often and to stay longer than during the dead of winter. The message was well received by the many shoppers and tourists on busy Fifth Avenue. Thumbs up, applause and other words and symbols of encouragement spurred activists on.
The lying scum at Escada, who filed a false report of a disorderly protest in progress, called police. When police arrived and found a peaceful legal demonstration, they apologized for the interruption and advised activists to carry on for as long as they pleased. Police officers from Midtown North thanked activists for having such an orderly protest. Some may wonder why activists have chosen to continue the campaign through the more temperate months. Now is the time that the “fashion” decisions are being made and animals are being slaughtered to make next season’s bloody fashion. This is a call to action to all animal rights campaigners that fight the barbaric fur trade. This is a fur WAR; this is no time for vacations. Demo #2: Staples - 6th Ave. & 57th St. Vowing to keep the pressure on Huntingdon Life Sciences (HLS) supplier Staples, activists arrived at their busy Sixth Avenue & 57th Street location. The large banner showing the bloody mutilated remains of an HLS beagle puppy garnered lots of attention along with posters naming and shaming Staples for supplying the puppy killers of HLS. Flyers were distributed to passersby and many, horrified by the graphic posters, vowed to contact Staples to let them know that they will no longer shop there until assured that all ties to HLS have been severed. Activists are now letting folks know that when they call the Staples 800 number or when they e-mail corporate headquarters, Staples is LYING about their relationship with HLS. Staples you should be ashamed of yourself. Have you even bothered to read your own corporate ethics statement? Staples LIES and beagles DIE. “We’ll be back Staples…count on it!”
Demo #3: Peter Laventhol - HLS Investor SPARK LP After a hiatus of several weeks, activists returned to the W. 54th Street address of HLS investor Peter Laventhol of Spark. Spark (which is really just a front for the personal investments of Peter Laventhol himself) still holds over 40,000 shares of LSR stock. A large banner was displayed naming and shaming him in front of his neighbors……”Peter Laventhol Puppy Killer”. So many are shocked because they tell us Peter is a good man that cares about animals. We see absolutely no evidence of this as Mr. Laventhol has not even given activists the courtesy of a reply to their e-mails. As in times past, a steady stream of MoMA (Museum of Modern Art) patrons and visitors provided an audience to activists chants and flyers. Many seemed shocked to find that a big shot investor like Peter Laventhol would be involved with sordid animal abusers like the ones at Huntingdon Life Sciences. As long as Laventhol holds a single share in LSR stock, he will remain an active target of the campaign. Video Clips: Peter Laventhol - HLS Investor SPARK |
