Tuesday, April 25, 2006 Bank of America & Columbia Management Education Day WAR activists set up a literature table at the front door of a very prominent midtown area Bank of America branch. This branch office is the flagship New York office as it resides in Bank of America Plaza, which covers a full city block. This highly trafficked location was perfect for flyer distribution. We had the opportunity to speak to many Bank of America customers, who were anxious to find out the connection between their Bank and the puppy killers at Huntingdon Life Sciences (HLS). After learning that Bank of America's subsidiary Columbia Management owns a large amount of stock in LSRI (aka HLS), they were horrified and many promised either to bring it up with the bank or to close their accounts. After 2 hours we moved our table to the corner of Madison and 57 th , where we greeted employees from Columbia Management as they left the building to go home. So many people came out to talk to us that we stayed until 7:30 PM. Many of those that stopped to speak to us promised to speak to management about divesting their shares in animal cruelty at Huntingdon Life Sciences. Surely, it won't be long before Columbia Management and Bank of America move assertively to protect their reputation by dumping LSRI. |
