Friday, April 20, 2007 WAR Exhibits at Earth Day Festival Bronx High School of Science Animal rights and earth activists were well represented at the Bronx High School of Science Earth Day Festival. With other groups covering the issue of veganism and vegetarianism and the impact of animal agriculture on the earth’s resources, it allowed us to concentrate on the issue of animal testing, cruelty free living and promoting our upcoming World Lab Animal Liberation Week events. We spoke to many students who are gearing towards careers in the “Sciences” about the inherent problems in using animal models to predict human responses. We also discussed the issue of animal dissection and where the animals came from including the notorious CBSC (Carolina Biological Supply Company) which produces the large majority of animals used for classroom dissection. We found the student body to be interested and inquisitive. Many returned, multiple times, to view more of the undercover videotape of the atrocities at Huntingdon Life Sciences, that was being screened at our table and also to bring their friends over to meet us. All in all, it was an excellent day of educational outreach and we hope to see some of these compassionate and caring students at future WAR events.
