WAR Tables at EastRev NYC Music Event

Outstanding line-up of bands included: Anti-Armada, Apple, BGD, Joda, and last but not least RABIA. The bands rocked a full capacity crowd at ABC NORIO on Rivington Street. If you haven’t heard these bands, you are really missing out on something. WAR was set up in the rear of the room with a good supply of literature including flyers about upcoming events. Action packed video was screened throughout the event and anti-HLS posters were hung on the walls.

Activists recruited for the monthly Baker demo with letter writing party to follow on February 25, 2007 at 2:00 PM. Also promoted was the March 7th Green Scare event being held at Brooklyn Law School and sponsored by SALDF and the Brooklyn Law Chapter of the National Lawyers Guild. The speaker’s roster for this event includes: journalist Will Potter, NLG’s Grainne O’Neill, WAR Attorney David Rankin and WAR’s own Camille Hankins. Should be an informative event!

The highlight of the event was when RABIA did one of their best…“Inside HLS” a tune that was inspired by the killing of 500 animals everyday by Huntingdon Life Sciences and by WAR’s Baker protests on Central Park West. Lyrics include: “Fuck you, Andrew Baker…how do you sleep at night”….the chorus a rousing “HLS, SHUT THEM DOWN, HLS, SHUT THEM DOWN”. You can hear the song on Rabia’s MySpace page: http://www.myspace.com/rabia. What a rush to see all of those people, with fists raised in the air, shouting HLS, SHUT THEM DOWN!!! Rabia, we love you guys!

We would like to take this opportunity to thank EastRev and all of the bands that have welcomed WAR into their space and into their consciousness. They have supported us financially and more importantly they have become friends of WAR and advocates for the animals. We have met some really outstanding people and we look forward to seeing our new friends out on the streets at future protests and at upcoming music events. EastRev is working hard to ‘put the politics back into punk’. We salute you!

You can check out EastRev’s MySpace page here: http://www.myspace.com/eastrev and you can find all of the bands that played on their top friends list. A special WAR thank you to Chris from EastRev who makes these shows happen.
