Thursday, January 1, 2008 In Solidarity with Sea Shepherd – Japanese Embassy Washington DC Activists trudged through the snow and headed to the Japanese embassy to protest Japan’s illegal whale and dolphin slaughter and the kidnapping of the Sea Shepherd heroes Giles Lane and Benjamin Potts. This protest was quickly organized by FARM (Farm Animal Reform Movement)and Win Animal Rights in solidarity with Sea Shepherd Conservation Society. New York activists who had promised to return to the New York Consulate office, fueled by their anger, traveled to the Japanese Embassy in Washington DC to express their outrage. Activists pulled out signs depicting whale slaughter, photos of the two hostages and slogans such as “Japan’s Bloodbath” , “Japan’s Shame” and “Free the Hostages.” “SHAME ON YOU, JAPAN”, they screamed as security from the embassy looked on in awe. At the end of the demonstration they got the phone call they’d been hoping for: The hostages had been freed and turned over to an Australian ship for transport back to their own ship, The Steve Irwin. The activists cheered but realize that this is only the beginning – they WILL KEEP COMING BACK until Japan STOPS KILLING INNOCENT WHALES AND DOLPHINS. *click here for slide show & video clips* ![]() |
