Saturday, January 9, 2010 Protest Held at Asia Society Japanese Cultural Event Activists Brave Arctic Winds to Stand In Solidarity with Sea Shepherd ![]() You can run but you cannot hide! As part of the new season of cultural events, the prestigious Asia Society hosted a performance of Japanese song and dance. Activists took the sidewalk in front of the Asia Society and greeted everyone who entered the event. Signs were held high and literature was distributed freely. Some took handfuls of flyers and made a promise to distribute them in the theater during the performance. The protest centered on the continuation of illegal whale slaughter by the Japanese fleet and the dangerously aggressive actions of the Japanese that resulted in the sinking of the Ady Gil. ![]() Theater goers stopped to chat with activists and many were horrified to hear about the actions of the Japanese. Many were further discouraged to hear about the high mercury levels of whale meat and that this meat was being distributed to and eaten by school children. Japan, well will you ever learn? When will you get it right? You must stop killing whales and endangering the lives of activists. Until you do, we will keep embarrassing you in front of your peers and your own countryment. ![]() Video Clips: Japanese Cultural Event |
